DESCRIPTION

Neem oil is a vegetable oil that is extracted from the fruits and seeds of the neem tree, Azadirachta indica, which is a member of the mahogany family. The neem tree is an evergreen tree that is native to the Indian subcontinent, and it is also found in other parts of Southeast Asia and Africa. It can grow up to 20 meters tall, with a crown that can reach up to 15 meters in diameter. It has a straight trunk that can be up to 1 meter in diameter, and the bark is grey-brown and rough. The leaves are alternate, with serrated edges, and are usually 20-40 cm long. The tree produces small, white flowers that are fragrant and arranged in clusters. The fruit of this tree is a drupe, which is a fleshy fruit with a hard, stony seed inside. The fruit is green when it is immature, but turns yellow as it ripens. The seed of the neem fruit is about 1-1.5 cm long and 0.5-1 cm wide and is enclosed in a thin outer shell. These trees are typically grown in tropical and subtropical regions and require a warm and humid climate to thrive. These trees are fast-growing and can begin producing fruit in as little as 3 to 5 years. The fruits are harvested when they are fully mature, usually in the months of June to August. They are then washed, dried, and the seeds are removed. The seeds are then, crushed to extract the oil, which can be used in a variety of ways.

The oil is extracted from the seeds of the neem tree using a cold-pressing method, which involves crushing the seeds and extracting the oil without the use of heat or chemicals. The resulting oil is a yellow-to-brown liquid with a bitter taste and a strong odour. It contains many biologically active compounds, including Nimbin, combining, and azadirachtin, which is responsible for its many health and agricultural benefits. It is shown to have antifungal, antiseptic, and insecticidal properties. Because of these properties, this oil has been used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. It is also used in hair care as well as a natural pesticide to control pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and whiteflies. It is also used as a fungicide to control diseases such as powdery mildew, black spot, and rust. But, this oil is not typically consumed for its nutritional value, but it does contain some compounds that may provide health benefits. Some of the nutritional components found in this oil are Fatty acids, including oleic acid, stearic acid, and palmitic acid. These fatty acids may provide moisturizing benefits for the skin and hair and may help to reduce inflammation. It contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, calcium, and magnesium. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, while calcium and magnesium are essential minerals that play a vital role in many bodily functions. Azadirachtin is a compound found in this oil that is responsible for its insecticidal properties. While azadirachtin is not a nutrient, it is an important component of neem oil, that makes it useful in agriculture and pest control. It is important to note that this oil should not be consumed in large amounts, as it can be toxic. Additionally, it should not be used as a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet.
